Few colleges took such stringent measures to protect the health and wellness of their academic community as Fordham University. Located in the Bronx, New York, and nestled in the heart of what was the nation’s ground zero for COVID-19 cases last year, Fordham University now reports a tiny 0.4% COVID-19 positive case rate . Thanks to their campuses’ strict guidelines, the University now plans to re-introduce in-person activities and instruction in the Fall 2021 semester. This news was originally posted to the academic community in late March on the Fordham News homepage.
As part of its March announcement from the Office of the President, Fordham University plans to offer the following in its Fall 2021 semester:
For additional safety measures, the University promises to accommodate students and faculty who are unable to return to campus due to health restrictions in advance of the Fall semester.
For Fordham students approaching the end of their spring semester, now is the time to decide your Fall housing options. Given the anticipated changes in University COVID-19 policy, leaning toward added flexibility for on-campus activity and in-person learning, the upcoming semester is a chance to familiarize yourself with local neighborhoods too. Local restaurants, bars, and event spaces are also expected to expand their doors. With the COVID-19 vaccines now available to the general adult populations, small businesses are eager to transact with a returning student population.
As part of the University’s mission to maintain the health and wellness of its on-campus community, students should expect the school’s screenings (for campus admission) and quarantine guidelines to stay in effect. Similarly, general public advice pushes consistent hand-washing and mask-wearing in public crowds, as advised by the CDC.
Needless to say, current
Fordham students are no strangers to adaptation to changing environments. The increase in vaccinations and the
CDC’s slight relaxation of mask usage (for fully vaccinated people) means a new phase for Americans entering the second half of the year.
As the Fordham University motto goes, “New York is your campus. Fordham is your school.” Graduate and undergraduate students know that living in New York City means exploration. With the entire city available through mass transit, the five boroughs are part of the Fordham experience. From visiting Little Italy restaurants, attending concerts in Central Park, or walking to the Bronx Zoo, these are important student moments.
That’s why Fordham off-campus housing is such an attractive alternative to on-campus university dorms. Restricting yourself to campus housing means no year-round activity, no closeness to neighboring businesses, and no
real
amenities. While underclassmen may not have the option to seek off campus housing, upperclassmen and graduate students should consider choosing an apartment complex that caters to students in the area.
With luxury amenities typically reserved for high salaried individuals and close proximity to the Rose Hill campus, actual off campus housing options like
Bluesky Living grant the freedom of apartment living with shared spaces and local business you would expect from a student dorm.
Fordham University
offers its own version of “off-campus housing,” but these occupancies are available only during the nine-month school term. If you
land a summer internship in midtown, the struggle to find a monthly lease or sublet will give you anxiety. Make it easier on yourself.
Bluesky Living offers a wide range of off-campus housing options to Fordham University students. Closeness to campus,
no broker fees, shared study spaces, rooftop lounges, and high-level security. Check out our rentals at
